Your car is already in Japan.
We go get it.
PF Imports bids on your behalf inside Japan's dealer-only auction network and lands the vehicle in Canada or the United States — sourced, verified against the auction sheet, and cleared through customs, with every cost disclosed before you commit.
Legends built for Japan's roads — and exotics that ended up there anyway
Skyline GT‑R, Supra, NSX
R32–R34 GT‑R, A70/A80 Supra, NA1/NA2 NSX, FD3S RX‑7, S13–S15 Silvia — the cars that never officially came to North America the first time around.
Low‑mileage European exotics
Japan's climate, garage culture, and shaken inspection regime keep Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches in exceptional, low‑kilometre condition — often better than domestic equivalents of the same age.
Kei cars, vans & oddities
Kei trucks, Autozam AZ‑1s, Pike-era Nissans — if it exists on a Japanese auction sheet, we can bid on it. State and provincial road‑use rules vary; we'll tell you upfront if one applies.
Built for collectors — and for dealers who need inventory
Whether you're chasing one specific chassis for your own garage or filling a rotating allotment for your lot, the brief works the same way: tell us the target, the ceiling, and the condition floor, and we do the bidding.
One car, done right
A specific model, a mileage cap, a top bid. We source it, verify the auction sheet ourselves, and walk you through duties and freight before you're on the hook for anything.
Consistent inventory
Standing sourcing briefs for dealers and resellers who need a repeatable pipeline of verified, correctly‑compliant vehicles landing in Canada or the U.S. on a schedule.
Six steps, one point of contact
- 01
Brief
You give us the make and model, acceptable years, mileage ceiling, and top bid. We confirm the request is realistic before we start bidding.
- 02
Search & Bid
Our team monitors Japan's dealer‑only auction network and bids up to your ceiling, checking every candidate against its auction sheet first.
- 03
Compliance & Delivery
Once won, we handle export paperwork, destination‑market compliance, freight, and customs clearance through to your door.
Backed by Perfect Fit Group
PF Imports is the newest venture from a Calgary automotive family that also owns Ferrari & Maserati of Alberta and PF Leasing. Exotic cars aren't a side interest for us — they're the business.
From brief to your driveway
Every request moves through the same six stages. Nothing is paid for — and no vehicle is bid on — without your ceiling in writing first.
-
01
Brief
You tell us the vehicle: make, model, acceptable model years, maximum odometer reading, and your top bid. We'll also ask about minimum auction grade and any dealbreakers — accident history, modifications, colour.
-
02
Search & Bid
We monitor Japan's dealer‑only wholesale auctions daily. When a matching lot appears, we pull and read its auction sheet ourselves before bidding — we don't rely on a listing photo.
-
03
Win & Secure
When we win within your ceiling, we confirm the result and current landed‑cost estimate with you before anything else moves. A deposit secures the vehicle — today that's coordinated directly with our team; online deposits are coming to this site.
-
04
Compliance Prep
We arrange Japanese export deregistration and prepare the paperwork your destination market requires — RIV documentation for Canada, or the age and emissions declarations U.S. Customs requires.
-
05
Freight & Duties
Ocean freight, port handling, duties, and taxes are quoted before you owe anything — see the Import & Compliance page for current rates and rules by country.
-
06
Delivery & Handover
The vehicle clears customs, completes any required provincial or state inspection, and is delivered — ready to register in your name.
Reading a Japanese auction sheet
Every vehicle we bid on is graded by the auction house on two independent scales — exterior condition and interior condition. We check both before your ceiling is ever put at risk.
| Grade | Condition |
|---|---|
| S | Showroom — virtually unused, delivery mileage |
| 6 | Near‑new, ex‑dealer stock under ~20,000 km |
| 5 | Excellent — minor cosmetic wear only |
| 4.5 | Very good — slight marks, no structural damage |
| 4 | Good — noticeable wear across panels |
| 3.5 | Above average — visible damage, minor repairs possible |
| 3 | Average — significant wear, accident history possible |
| 2 & below | Heavy damage or project‑grade condition |
| R | Repaired after accident, no airbag deployment |
| RA | Repaired serious accident, airbags deployed |
| Grade | Condition |
|---|---|
| A | Excellent — no stains, tears, or damage |
| B | Good — minor wear and light marks |
| C | Average — visible wear, possible staining |
| D | Poor — heavy wear or significant damage |
Tell us your minimum acceptable grade on both scales in your request — we won't bid on anything below your floor.
What it actually takes to land a car legally
Age‑based exemptions make Japan's back catalogue importable — but the rules differ sharply between Canada and the United States, and change over time. Here's the current shape of each.
The 15‑year rule
Vehicles become eligible 15 years from their month and year of manufacture — the build date on the compliance plate, not the model year. Transport Canada's Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) oversees compliance for eligible vehicles, which are generally exempt from Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
TYPICAL LANDED COSTS
~6.1% customs duty on Japan‑made vehicles, 5% GST, provincial sales tax or HST at registration, plus an air‑conditioning excise tax where applicable.
GOOD TO KNOW
Quebec and Prince Edward Island require vehicles to be 25 years old before a right‑hand‑drive vehicle can be registered — stricter than the federal rule. All provinces require a safety and mechanical inspection after customs clearance.
The 25‑year rule
Vehicles 25 years or older, measured from the manufacturing date on the door‑jamb compliance plate, are exempt from Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (NHTSA) and from the EPA's separate emissions requirement — provided the engine matches its original configuration.
TYPICAL LANDED COSTS
A 2.5% base customs duty, declared to CBP on Form HS‑7. Vehicles qualifying under the 25‑year exemption are excluded from the separate Section 232 automobile tariff.
GOOD TO KNOW
States can be stricter than the federal government — California's CARB emissions testing runs under separate state authority, and several states restrict road registration for kei trucks and vans regardless of federal eligibility.

Tell us what you're looking for
The more specific you are, the faster we can tell you whether it's realistic. Your top bid is your ceiling at auction — it doesn't include duties, freight, or our sourcing fee, which we'll lay out before anything is won.
We're on it.
Your sourcing brief has been logged and our team will follow up by email to confirm details and next steps.
